In this art workshop learners explore landscape through colour and painting techniques. They learn about colour and its relationship to emotion and music. They discuss composition in art and music and relate colour to different compositions. They explore techniques by other artists and are encouraged to try them out in small studies. Landscape resources are used as inspiration for the development of a personal landscape, selecting colours to evoke mood and sense of place. Outdoor fieldwork is an option and encouraged as a source of inspiration from the local area.
The composition is designed in the style or using techniques of the artists explored and the final painting is completed on canvas.
This art workshop explores the work of others. Links to music and geography through exploration of place and composition. It develops technical skills and expands the repertoire of painting techniques. It provides the opportunity for decision making, selecting, arranging and refining, peer group assessment, speaking and listening. There is great potential for cross-curricular links.
