Pink Fruit Bat Arts is run by Sally Newham.  Sally trained in Fine Art and has since taught art in schools over a number of years.  Since graduating with a PGCE at Goldsmiths University she has developed her skills in teaching and learning and has been involved in projects with the British Museum, Tate Modern, The Photographers Gallery, NEWCEYS and other community and institution based workshops.  She remains a keen artist and has exhibited nationally, particularly focusing her personal creativity on printing, textiles, drawing, collage and painting.

The art workshop provider is the brain child of Sally Newham. Once a successful secondary art teacher in East London she decided to broaden her scope and offer creative, educational and inspiring art activities to all areas of the community. She felt it was important to develop the creativity in people of all ages in order to boost confidence, motivation, fulfilment and a sense of worth through new challenges and learning new skills.

Sally takes art education seriously and understands the value in using art to create happy, successful and confident young people. She value the important role art has to play in building communities and strengthening social bonds. She aims to offer projects that understand the needs of her clients and their people by liaising and planning carefully the workshop themes in order to achieve the aims set out by funders and organisers.

Still a practising artist in her own right, Sally brings with her a passion for printing, drawing, painting and collage. She has a strong two-dimensional background which includes a degree in Fine art Printing. During her years of teaching she has gained significant knowledge of clay and sculptural media and is able to offer knowledge of 3D building skills and also firing and glazing techniques. ‘She proved that she has a depth of subject knowledge and can teach effectively across the art, draft and design continuum, she also has excellent pedagogic skills’
